Nine-year-old girl escapes rape attempt by driver 

NIBONG TEBAL: A nine-year-old girl foiled an attempt by a driver to rape her by screaming and dashing out from the school bus at Bukit Tambun in Sungai Bakap, near here.

The Year Three pupil, who was the last passenger in the bus, had dozed off just before the bus reached her home at about 2pm on Tuesday.

OCPD Supt Shafien Mamat said the driver then parked the bus in a quiet area and approached the sleeping girl.

“He blindfolded her with a cloth and as he removed her skirt, the girl screamed and dashed out of the bus.

“She ran home to tell her parents about the incident,” Supt Shafien told a press conference here yesterday.

Supt Shafien said the driver, 26, was later nabbed, adding that the police recovered the cloth used to blindfold her and a mobile phone.
